Simon was born and raised in Taunton and at the age of 15 he undertook a placement at the Co-Op Funeral Directors within the town.
After six years working in Taunton, Simon was given the wonderful opportunity of moving to London to further his career and training within the Funeral Profession.
Simon gained such valuable and varied knowledge and experience form his years in London, working his way from Chauffeur to Funeral Director whilst taking a year working and managing the Company's mortuary, learning about embalming and the presentation of the deceased people in his care.
Following a family bereavement, Simon realised his heart still belonged in Somerset and through contacts within the Funeral profession, was able to move homeward to Bath, where for three years he managed a cluster of Funeral Homes in Bath and the surrounding area.
Simon was then offered to return to Taunton and in 2005 he returned to work in his hometown for Nigel K Ford Funeral Directors and remained there until the business was sold to a large national company.
2016 saw the birth of Crescent Funeral Services – a life-long dream of Simon's had now become a reality.
Crescent Funeral Services has been built by Simon and his team, along with the help of those closest to him and the business brings its unique mix of care, respect and compassion to Taunton and its surrounding communities.
After a career spanning over 25 years, Simon is now happily embracing the future of the Funeral profession, supporting the next generation of Funeral Director, sharing his knowledge as a Tutor with the IFD College and in March 2020, was granted a position as a National SAIF Executive Committee member, helping to drive forward the profession with continuing good practices.
Outside of work, Simon has always been a keen choral music fan, having sung from a young age as a Bishop's Chorister in the churches and Cathedrals around Somerset and Europe, having been a founder member of the Somerset County Youth Choir.
Together with Robert, he enjoys trips to concerts and the theatre, enjoying travel and time spent with friends and family.
